Busted At The Line
Spending one whole week at the school, now it's time to go be cool.
(EI!)
Let's all watch the big ball game, let's all watch the baboons play.
(Uh-Oh!)
State line, Broken Bridge, I don't know which is which.
chorus:
Ha-ha, busted at the line.
The cops have arrived, and you're all high.
Pile in my pick-up truck, I've got room let's fill 'er up!
(EI!)
Follow me, I know the way, I've been there for many days.
(Uh-Oh!)
Four-wheelers, big bon fires, go ahead and squeal those tires!
breakdown:
(Welcome to Mini-Mart, Who's bringing the keg?)
chorus:
Ha-ha, busted at the line.
The cops have arrived, and you're all high.
What's that, you're out of beer?
Then what in the (heck) are you doing here?
While the music was written by Austin during the spring of 2001, it wasn't until the next September that lyrics were finally added. Several different events surrounding that time influenced the words to the song. For fear of being beaten severely by certain individuals, or being grounded by parents, the exact details inspiring this track remain secret.
Alex and Austin experimented with several different effects and lyric samples (hits by Nelly, STP, Outkast, and Garth Brooks were all thrown into the original song at one time or another) before deciding on the final mix. A reference to The Simpsons and a mumbled rap by Austin can now be heard. It's obvious that the tune isn't trying to change the face of music forever, or be serious in the least bit. "Busted At The Line" was meant to be a fun, upbeat track. Yeah, that's right, Kim Nolan knows what we're singing about.
"Busted At The Line" was rerecorded at Woodland Studios for Start The Reactor! It was sped up dramatically and given a much needed boost. The latest version of the song contains an extra minute and thirty seconds of music. The new addition gives Daniel a chance to show off his drum solo chops and Derek the chance to play some lead guitar.
